Maderas, like Hoggmeiser, was a former servant to King Krichevskoy in Disgaea: Hour of Darkness. He is related to the Nosferatu/Vampire class and has an accent reminiscent of Dracula.

Some time before the story begins, he was banished from the castle for stealing the King's favorite snack, Black Pretzels (Dark Buns in the Japanese version). In order to get revenge, he effectively takes control of Etna by stealing her memories, promising their return if she kills Prince Laharl.
Maderas is shown to be sneaky, using Laharl's weaknesses (optimistic words and sexy bodies) in a bid to kill him during Chapter 5. Seeing that Etna failed to kill Laharl, he leaves her to die at the hands of his forces. At the end of the chapter, he is defeated, and swears loyalty to Etna, joining the party.
However, if 100 allies were killed, the player can choose the option to kill Maderas. If so, Flonne tries to kill Etna, only to end up killed as well.
In Etna Mode, hearing about the Prince's death, he attempts to dispose of Etna, only to be defeated and later killed by Vulcanus.
