The Gunner is a class in Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten. The Gunner is available to unlock as soon as the player is in possession of one Level 15 Thief and one Level 15 Skull. After that you must pass the "Sunset kind of Guy" bill in the Cam-pain HQ.
With its high HIT and SPD and ability to learn all 6 native gun skills, the Gunner, as the name suggests, is a class specialized in the use of the gun weapon. Like other range-specializing units, it's aptitudes and stats in the defensive areas (RES aside) are low, meaning it can easily die to a few hits.
The class is not as deadly as, for example, the Archer or Skull when it comes to power in ranged classes, due to its use of the gun; the gun has no skills above the power level of C and is lackluster in single target damage, meaning that the Gunner will fall behind other units in terms of damage even with it's specialization in HIT and SPD. The class instead fulfills more of a support role, not only because of this, but also because of the gun's heavily long range skills and evilities. Its evilities are all focused on comboing and is meant to portray the Gunner as a setup for chains; guaranteeing criticals with Marking and hits with Assist for the next attacker can be very useful when it comes to dealing damage with units like the Warrior.
Overall, the Gunner does not have as much damage potential as other ranged classes (unless you're willing to use up the evility slot for Second Attack, Gun Trick, etc), but it can fulfill a unique supporting role in the team thanks to it's long range and combo-centric evilities giving it a "chain starter" niche.
