A Shroom in Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance.

The Shroom (also known as Eringa, Eringya, or Eringer) is a recurring monster class within the Disgaea series, introduced in Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure, and first appeared in a Disgaea game in Disgaea 3: Absence of Justice.

Appearance[]

Their appearance is similar to a mushroom, hence their name of "Shroom". Their head is indistinguishable from their torso, and they have long stub like arms and six legs. They have a flat top, which is spotted like a mushroom. They also have a backpack like mushroom on their back and a small tail.

Characteristics[]

They are fiendish fungi that grow in various places and are known for saying "Gi" at least once in a sentence. They sprouted due to mushrooms being exposed to the magic of the Netherworld, but originally came from Marl's Kingdom[1]. Shrooms only come from naturally grown mushrooms. They like damp places[1]. They are mostly seen as food, and some demons farm Shrooms for rations. However they gain consciousness when growing up, and then run away. This is why they are usually harvested early, though even ones that escape will be attacked for harvest, so they live in fear of being turned to food.

The Shroom were originally prominent monsters in earlier Nippon Ichi games such as Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure and La Pucelle: Tactics. They were somewhat considered Nippon Ichi's mascot, but the even more popular Prinny pushed the Shroom aside. They are jokingly described as "The True Mascot" on the website for Disgaea 7: Vows of the Virtueless[1].

Appearances[]

La Pucelle: Tactics[]

In La Pucelle, Eringas are a recruitable monster class. An optional event in Chapter 3 unlocks the Eringa Valley, where one Eringa can be paid to join the team. They also live on Mt. Champignon alongside the Dragonshrooms.

Phantom Brave[]

During their appearance in Phantom Brave Eringas are a small, tough unit that becomes available after enough have been defeated. Tyrant Baal also appears as one of these.

In Disgaea 3, Eringas become recruitable. Their evilities are the opposite to Succubi, as they take less damage from and cut the stats of female opponents, apparently due to the spores that they release.
