Thursday is a recurring character in the Disgaea series. Since being built by the genius martial artist Jennifer when she was 5 years old, Thursday the All Purpose Robot has always been by her side.

Appearances[]

Disgaea: Hour of Darkness[]

Working together with both Jennifer and Gordon, he has become a powerful force on their team. When Gordon is sent out to defeat the Overlord, Thursday willingly joins his struggle.

Their ship crash lands in the Stellar Graveyard, leaving them stranded within the Netherworld. Thursday and Jennifer get separated from Gordon. They meet Laharl's party and join with them to find Gordon. When they find him, Thursday and Gordon engage in a challenge with Laharl and lose. Then, Gordon becomes Laharl's new servant.

Jennifer and Thursday quickly grow accustumed to the life in the Netherworld. After go to the 'Forest of the Dead' after a new Defender of Earth challenge, Don Joaquin suddenly attacks Gordon but Thursday saves him and takes the full force of the attack. Thursday begins to malfunction. The attack from Don heavily damaged Thursday's memory circuit, risking memory loss from overheating.

To top it off, Jennifer is unable to fix Thursday without the proper equipment. When Gordon tells Thursday to sit it out, Thursday objects, telling them that "to lose his memory would be sad, but to be useless would be even more sad", wanting to fight. Gordon feels touched by it, and allows Thursday to continue to fight.

After the fight with Don Joaquin, Thursday begins to overheat. As Jennifer and Gordon try to tell him to save his energy, Thursday thanks them for the memorien, then shuts down. Don notes to Gordon how he has such wonderful friends, and that maybe if he (Don) had had friends like that, maybe things would have been different. Don fixes Thursday in a flash of white light and his soul finally achieves peace.

Thursday returns in Disgaea 2 with Gordon and Jennifer.

Thursday transforms into his flying saucer mode and Jennifer shoots him into the sky. Kurtis and Gordon add their velocity to Thursday, and the trio fly straight into the group of Kurtis clones. Like Jennifer, Thursday is knocked out after that and doesn't participate in the battle.

Disgaea 3: Absence of Justice[]

Thursday, along with Jennifer and Gordon, appears as a DLC in Disgaea 3. In it, Thursday attempts to be a teacher. The reason for this is that Gas Prices are high, needing fuel.

Mao challenges Thursday to battle, saying Thursday must beat him to become a teacher. Thursday then prepares for battle (while also targeting Almaz). Afterwards, Mao doesn't breaks him promise, only offering a position as a research assistant (while secretly planning to modify Thursday into a super weapon).

In battle, Thursday can Magichange into a Bow.

Disgaea Infinite []

Thursday appears in Disgaea Infinite, alongside the other Defenders of Earth while they're still residing in the Overlord's Castle. Jennifer orders Thursday a new fuel supply part from the Netherworld Shopping Channel to upgrade his power and calculation processing, though it get mixed up with another mail order.

After the faulty part is installed Thursday begins speaking in a more intellectual tone with a slight accent before losing control and exploding. This timeline is averted.

Of note, the game imagines a few different upgraded versions of Thursday that are parodies of famous mecha anime, including the Great Mazinger (Grand Thursday), V2 Gundam (V2 Assault Buster Thursday), a hybrid reference between Super Sentai/Power Rangers and Combattler V (Super Prismzord Thursday), and Gundam GP-03 from Gundam Stardust Memories (Thursday Test III).

Disgaea RPG[]

Thursday appears as an obtainable character in his classic form in the first arc of the story and its sidestory chapters.

In the second season of Disgaea RPG, Thursday is upgraded during Mao's Netherworld Manji Tech Expo. Using technology schematics from Genjuro Kazamatsuri, Jennifer fashions a new android body and new software for processing higher level emotions for Thursday.

Thursday's new feminine humanoid form still retains all the combat functions as the old design along with some extra firepower. Her speaking patterns remain the same, though sound somewhat less robotic.

Jennifer also makes a second copy of Thursday in the old design who still helps out the Defenders of Earth.

Personality[]

Despite being a robot, Thursday seems to have a heart. Even if severely damaged and on the verge of breaking down, Thursday continues to fight alongside Gordon and bring about justice. Thursday is calm when dealing with various obstacles and can be very sarcastic at times. Thursday usually begins or ends sentences with "beep beep blip beep".

Trivia[]

  • Thursday's name may be a reference to "Man Friday", a character in Robinson Crusoe. This term has passed into idiomatic usage, referring to a faithful servant (which Thursday certainly is). And his appearance is based on Robby, a robot from the sci-fi horror movie Forbidden Planet.
  • In the Japanese version, Thursday has a female voice actor, as opposed to the English version, which has a male voice actor.
  • Thursday has the unique ability that the Thief class does where they can use Hand class items to steal things like health or statistics.
  • Despite being unable to reincarnate and lacking a weapon mastery, Thursday is potentially the most powerful character due to 150% stats on items (excluding RES) which combine with Baal's elite stolen ones.
  • Thursday is the only playable character in the entire Disgaea series unable to Reincarnate, being a robot. This is addressed in the plot where during battle, Thursday is referenced as the only one truly risking utter oblivion if he is destroyed since others seem to be aware of the afterlife for organic beings.
  • This was changed in Disgaea 3 as Thursday can now reincarnate and gain the 5% aptitude bonus as well.
  • The second skill in Disgaea 3 is a reference to the anime Yatterman along with a group of miniature robots and a skull shaped explosion.
  • Similar to Thursday's class in Disgaea: Hour of Darkness, in Disgaea 3, Thursday has high aptitudes of 155% for each stat. Counting 5 reincarnations and having maxed out aptitudes in Class World, Thursday would have a staggering 255% in every aptitude (the maximum in Disgaea 3).
