Evilities are passive abilities introduced in Disgaea 3: Absence of Justice. The name is a portmanteau of "Evil Ability". Each character comes with a Unique Evility that cannot be unequipped, but they can freely equip others besides that.

Each class learns their own set of Evilities, with Unique Characters unlocking them by leveling up while Generic Characters unlock them as they reach higher Class Tiers. Once unlocked, the new Evilities must be purchased with Mana at the Evility Shop. The shop also sells an array of generic Evilities on top of the character's own unlocked ones. Evilities learned by a specific Class can be still passed on to others through Reincarnation(for Generics only) or the Class/Chara World.

Disgaea 2[]

This game features a precursor to Evilities, referred to inside this wiki as simply "passive skills". Each class has their own unique effect, and they can be strengthened through a rare Specialist called Lover.

Disgaea 3 and 4[]

Each character has a fixed slot for their Unique Evility, and an open slot for equipping any learned Common Evility. In Disgaea 3: Absence of Detention and Disgaea 4, Monsters have an additional open slot.

Disgaea D2[]

Units in this game only have a slot for their Unique Evility, although Generics(and a few Unique characters) have multiple options for it.

A bill unlocked after beating the main story lets a unit steal the main Evility from another unit that has maxed out likeability with them, equipping it as a second Evility.

Disgaea 5 onward[]

D5 Evility Example

Characters still have a fixed Unique Evility(each main character will gain a second one throughout the story), but the way Common Evilities are equipped has changed: Characters can have a large number of Evility Slots but each Evility has a numerical Slot Cost, with characters being able to equip as many Common Evilities as they can afford within their Slot limit. Units start with 5 Slots, but this number increases as the character grows.

After beating the story, it's also possible to gain Slots for equipping more Unique Evilities. The Unique Evilities of Generic classes can be learned through the Class Proficiency system, by choosing one as a sub class and maxing out its rank. Unlike Common Evilities, all Unique ones use only one slot.
